Hi girls,
Very glad to share my experience in US with you all.
I have been here 3 weeks. I am happy, excited, astonished, and a little
homesick.
In US, I have to take care of myself---on the plane, in the training school
and in my new house. Everything here is new, especially when English is around
me 24 hours every day, so my brain was very very tired at the beginning. I dont
know how to order my dinner, because I dont know what it is. And they speak
very fast, so I cant follow. But I am much better now. I believe every
non-English au-pair has the same experience. So it just takes some time to get
used to it.
Here, I have many new friends, which are from Brazil, Russia, Germany, Korea,
etc. thought I dont have any Chinese friends, and I never feel lonely. In the
training school, we studied together, had meals together, sang the song together
and went to the pub together. The NYC trip was great---times square, top of
rock, especially on the ferry.
The families are very nice. They help me prepare everything, including the
international phone card and all the daily necessities and, care what I want and
what I think of. I went to west palm beach in Florida last week. It is very warm
there. I swam in the pool, played with the kids, attended the American birthday
party and tried the Jewish food. I got a lot of special experience staying with
the family.
Sometimes, I am a little homesick. It doesnt matter. Call my mum and dad,
and friends in China or in US, and share my photos and feeling on line, and use
webcam. So I dont think I am far from my hometown, and I still contact them
frequently.
The au-pair program gives me new life---new friends, new food, new tri,
English
Hope more and more Chinese girls can join us, and we can raise our red star
flag yelling We are from China in the training school.
Best wishes,
Yishan ZHAN
